  • This movie is a humorous musical, made with the rollicking music of Gilbert and Sullivan. The main characters are Jimmie, a shady bookie, and Mabel, a dance hall girl with a desire for fame and money.
    The story begins when Jimmie meets Mable and takes her out on a number of dates, pretending to be a high profile producer.

    He obviously likes her and wants her to be his girlfriend. Unfortunately for him she sais “No” and Jimmie decides to get his revenge by becoming her manager. He lures her with promises of Broadway and fortunes, takes her to expensive dates and meetings with people in the top entertainment circles.
    Jimmie finally forces Mabel to sign a contract with a Gilbert and Sullivan troupe, which is the beginning of his revenge. Mable’s dream of fame and money is replaced by a contract which brings all the money she earns into Jimmie’s pocket. Still, his desire for her doesn’t end and in the end Jimmie gets her to like him and… “The girl says Yes”.
